Balancing the strict confidentiality required by an energy and natural gas utility's governance with the demand for open, collaborative workflows served as the core driver for Finestra Arquitetura’s retrofit of the Compagas executive suite. Spanning a 328-square-meter floor plate in Curitiba, Brazil, the project reconfigures the company’s leadership floor through high-performance acoustic isolation and the strategic conversion of underutilized space into multifunctional work environments.
The primary spatial transformation involved converting a former, underused breakroom into an agile collaborative hub. Rather than constructing permanent physical walls, Finestra implemented a flexible layout anchored by modular seating, mobile whiteboards, standing-height tables, and integrated displays, subtly enclosed by sheer drapery. This spatial setup allows teams to reconfigure the zone according to task demands—ranging from quick stand-up briefings to extended workshops—reducing pressure on formal conference rooms while maintaining visual continuity throughout the suite.
To safeguard sensitive strategic deliberations, vendor negotiations, and board meetings, the design prioritized comprehensive acoustic engineering. Finestra integrated double-glazed glass partitions, plenum acoustic barriers above the ceiling plane, and sound-absorbing ceiling baffles. In parallel, four compact rooms were converted into private focus booths for video calls and confidential discussions, streamlining circulation to prevent cross-traffic between executive workflows and external guests.
Functional optimization also encompassed employee well-being and operational support. The retrofit introduced a dedicated lactation room engineered for acoustic privacy, ergonomic comfort, and quiet utility. In the pantries, surface finishes were upgraded to high-durability materials designed for seamless maintenance and daily use. By pairing technical rigor with spatial adaptability and adaptive reuse, Finestra Arquitetura delivered an executive workspace that is sober, contemporary, and operationally resilient.
