The company restaurant spans the river like a bridge, elegantly connecting the two parts of the site separated by the Pitten River. Generous glazed façades on the north and south sides create an open, light-filled space that is further extended by covered terraces on both sides.
With its open-plan dining area and unique location above the river, the building provides employees with a spacious and relaxing environment for their lunch breaks.
The structure is supported by a bridge construction consisting of precast reinforced concrete girders and floor slabs spanning the river. The remaining wall and roof structures are made of prefabricated timber elements. The entire exterior envelope is clad in a ventilated oak slat façade.
The single-storey bridge building rests on a podium level at the lower eastern riverbank, from which a generous staircase leads up to the restaurant.
The design concept encompasses the entire architectural composition, extending seamlessly into the interior design. The symbiosis of architecture and design creates a distinctive spatial experience. The dark interior acts like a passe-partout, intensifying the colours of the surrounding landscape. Through the fully open north and south façades, the colours and atmosphere of nature are brought directly into the building.
Furniture pieces become design elements and sculptural components that define the space. Aviation—the company’s field of expertise—served as the inspiration for the forms and materials used throughout the interior, influencing the design language of the furnishings.
