Project Overview
Compassion International is a Christian charity focused on improving the lives of children living in poverty worldwide. The organization faced challenges related to local in-office demand at their headquarters in Denver, CO, and the need for a space that could accommodate global business functions and local non-profits. This led to the innovative concept of an “experience center.”
Half of the space includes diverse environments, including small to mid-size suites for group collaboration, flexible training rooms, telepresence-enabled conferencing spaces, catering cafes, and casual brainstorming areas. The other half focuses on the needs of the local workforce, offering open workstations, private offices, and dedicated support spaces, promoting connectivity and interaction. The design palette draws inspiration from earthy textures and the vibrant images of the children Compassion serves, emphasizing natural materials for their tactile qualities, creatively utilizing conventional materials in unique ways.
ASI’s Contribution
The first phase of this project was completed in May 2023, and the final phase was delivered by the end of November 2023. The architect for the project was Acquilano Interior Architecture, and E & K of Denver served as the installer. ASI Architectural provided production drawings for the ceiling panels and standard details to support their installation in the field. The Fusion Flat Ceiling system covered 7,776 square feet and consisted of 628 ceiling panels, each measuring 24” x 72”. These panels were installed using a torsion spring system that securely attaches to the T-bar grid system, allowing easy removal for access above the ceiling. The material used for the panels was Class A fire-rated plywood core with a white oak rift-cut face and edges, finished with a clear lacquer.
