Courtyard house is a care facility within the city. It’s close to a large institution that offers comprehensive treatment. This project started with a healing garden, which is the heart of the concept. It punctures through five house-shaped bars oriented EW directions. The garden invites light, greenery and aroma into the care facility, and brings comfort to visitors who are near the end of their journey. The garden also offers visitors a place to breath, reflect, and heal. To experience breath is to experience life.
Warm wood finishes and a vibrant green Terra cotta wall anchor the interior and exterior, creating a welcoming, home-like atmosphere. The use of natural materials, along with the greenery, is to create a soothing environment conducive for visitor’s mind and body.
Public programs such as gathering, dining and library, and private programs such as treatment and nurse stations are arranged on both sides of the garden. It ensures a flow that offers privacy but also opportunities for socializing and community building. The end is a new beginning, and it should be celebrated for those we have proudly walked through it.
