In Rijsenhout, in collaboration with Vink+Veenman, we won the tender for the new construction of De Reede: a new village house with 20 apartments in the village centre.
With the design of this plan we make a connection with the modern post-war architecture of the village, and we give the square a stronger boundary, which improves the square on the Werf.
We have designed an all-round compact residential building with different housing types for starters and the elderly. In the plinth on the ground floor is a theater that is sunken and space for catering and facilities.
By staggering the building block and using different materials for each function, the building fits into its surroundings with its scale. There are windows and entrance doors on all sides of the building, making the building lively on all sides.
The choice of frames around the high windows and entrances, and the high-contrast materials, are inspired by post-war modernism, which is a defining feature in Rijsenhout. The village is modern and the facades of the buildings are playful and fresh, reflecting the optimism of the reconstruction years. We want to maintain and reinforce this image, as was done earlier with the new construction of the adjacent Meeting Church.
We are proud of a very positive jury report, in which not only the functionality and approach of our plan were positively assessed, but also the urban and architectural qualities.
