DETACHED HOUSE

The detached house stands on the edge of a higher situated village with a view upon the foot of the southside of the Jura mountain range. On the slope side the allotment meets the forest boundary. On the valley side, you reach the house entrance via a narrow access road on the property. The ground floor which is the access floor, contains the garage, the entrance, as well as the bedrooms and cellar rooms. The upper floor accommodates a spacious living / dining area, which is zoned by an open kitchen and an expanding outer space. A separated room layer is used as an office and adjacent room, which could later be converted into a master bedroom area (living on a single floor at higher age).

The building is designed as a simple two-storey «box», which has had two corners cut out off. On the ground floor, the cut-out generates the covered entrance and garage forecourt area, on the upper floor it provides the south-west-facing terrace. The windows are designed with large, varying openings. The building’s envelope is plastered in analogy to the surrounding buildings. The dark grey paint was created in a traditional process known for 100 years. The surface gives the outside of the building the homogeneous, stone expression.
