As a springboard for the international development of the Edhec Group, the young campus offers a new pole of attractiveness within the Lille metropolis. Dedicated to training and research, it is open to an economic and social environment in partnership with businesses. All the ingredients of a dynamic university are grouped together: a teaching center, an administration/research/association center, a restaurant center, an accommodation center and a sports center.
The installation of the new buildings overhanging preserved parking lots ensures the sustainability of the wooded areas. The existing buildings are rehabilitated. Among them, the J.Greber manor and the IBM building by JP Buffi are of architectural interest.
Simple geometric forms characterize the new objects. Their purpose and location are emphasized by differentiated facade coverings. Their position is determined in each case by an element of the site. Thus, the restaurant wraps itself around a gigantic tree; the teaching area is a counterpoint to the IBM building; the work spaces are functional and meet the comfort expected by their users. Innovative services are offered: e-learning platform, research laboratories, incubators, etc.
But what makes the new campus special is its ability to "offer more". The expansion of the distribution spaces magnifies the spatial offer. From circulations, they become places of autonomous work or places of exchange and interdisciplinarIty. These spaces alternately welcome associations, companies and institutions during events that punctuate the school calendar. The opening of the campus to the city also allows for less formal meetings. The amphitheater and the restaurant are available to local residents. The sports center opens its doors to community associations. The park generates a place for Sunday walks open to all.
The sports and education poles are affiliated to the HQE standards, under the respective qualities of pilot and label. A reserve of land between the accommodation and the restaurant makes a future extension of the campus possible. The current project of 43,000m2 nevertheless makes it possible to accommodate nearly 4,000 students today.
