This interior design project was developed in a residence located on Calle Muntaner, one of Barcelona's most distinguished streets, within an equally noble building — one defined by generous proportions, high ceilings, and original architectural elements that shape its character.
From the outset, the intervention was conceived as an exercise in respect and reinterpretation. The goal was not to transform the apartment, but to update it for a contemporary way of living while preserving the classical elegance already present. Mouldings, joinery, and large windows were retained and celebrated, becoming the defining thread of the project.
The reorganisation of the spaces allowed the kitchen to open onto the living area, creating a wide, luminous, and fluid communal zone. The kitchen was conceived as a functional and serene space, with clean-lined cabinetry, a large central island, and considered lighting that serves both daily routines and moments of gathering. The dialogue between contemporary materials and the original hardwood flooring reinforces a sense of balance between past and present.
The original glazed doors, restored and painted white, take centre stage, visually connecting the spaces and allowing natural light to flow freely from room to room. These elements bring character, rhythm, and an elegant transition between areas, preserving the apartment's distinguished identity.
The colour palette was built around neutral, warm tones, conceived to enhance the architecture and invite calm. Every decision — from the design of the bespoke furniture to the selection of lighting and textiles — responds to a single guiding principle: to create a home that is sophisticated, functional, and timeless, where beauty is felt without ostentation.
The result is a residence that breathes serenity and coherence, where the classical and the contemporary coexist naturally. A project that reflects Verónica Mimoun Studio's approach to interior design: spaces conceived to be lived in, respectful of their context, and carefully designed down to the last detail.
