Socio-cultural and youth center 'Le Cèdre'

The socio-cultural and youth center 'Le Cèdre' is the last piece in the urban and landscape redevelopment project of the 'Hauts d'Asnières' district.
All the social, cultural and symbolic functions of the district are brought together there in a logic of mutualisation which optimizes resources - human, material and energy - and promotes their synergies.

On the plot in the form of a trapezoidal island, the figure built in an “S” shape organizes in its wings the different poles of the program - childhood / youth, family, service / mediation and artistic / cultural - at the same time as it qualifies the spaces. free of the site and preserves their wooded heritage.

With the building as an assert, three gardens with differentiated qualities - free play area, shared vegetable garden and shade garden - are laid out around the large cedars preserved and offered to residents in addition to the predominantly mineral public spaces.

The CSC-MDJ is aimed at rue Henri Poincaré, the main thoroughfare of the district, while the performance hall is directly accessible from the Parvis in a “village square” logic.
The central wing is the central part of the project around its large gallery in the shape of a "foyer". It connects indoor and outdoor spaces, and serves the entire program from its triple-height atrium.

In a sustainable city logic that combines culture, amenities and ecology, the architectural expression of the building highlights its wood construction and the bioclimatic principles that governed its design.
The zinc roofs form a noble landscape of large sections decorated with sheds, under which the facades describe an order made up of two materials. Addressed to public spaces, white brick affirms the long-lasting and institutional character of the building, while in the protected landscaped areas the wood reveals the warm and rhythmic character of the structure of the building.
