The two housing blocks are part of an overall plan by burkhalter sumi architects. In a reference to the guideline planning for the Sulzerareal in Oberwinterthur the long building volumes are at right angles to Eulachpark thus allowing the desired spatial transparency. The point-buildings on Hegifeldstrasse are organised as part of the street development. The western residential block and the two point buildings were designed as lofts by Novaron Architekten
The longitudinal section of the two housing blocks "works" on two scales: the three-storey "ground-related" building volume complies with planning zone category W3 and is oriented towards the nearby areas. The elevated building complies with zone W5 and is oriented towards views of the distance. Accordingly the facades and the apartments in the two blocks are designed differently. The three-storey building has a grid façade with full-height windows. The entrance and balcony loggias are docked onto this grid. The elevated building has a punched hole façade on its long sides, while balconies occupy the entire width of the short ends.
The two buildings, which are placed as symmetrical points, are accessed from the public space in between them. The ground floor apartments have a direct entrance with their own address and extend through the depth of the building. The circulation on the upper floors is by means of two staircases and a "rue interieure" with studios and duplex apartments. The dwellings in the "tower houses" are arranged like quadrants around the staircase cores. The underground garage, which is naturally ventilated and lit, lies between the two buildings.
