Set in a walk-up apartment built in the 90s, Everfresh fulfils a young urban dweller's aspiration to forge a deeper connection with nature and as a result, increase his mental and physical well-being. The pièce de résistance of the apartment is an unexpected minimalistic glass garden, housing a singular Everfresh tree, within the master bedroom. In addition to being a stunning backdrop for the platform bed, it reflects the high level of commitment to adapting the interior environment to nature.
As with human connections, vulnerability in relationships deepens bonds. The decision to place this glass garden within the bedroom comes with a purposeful intent to foster a deeper connection with nature, especially during the time of the day when one feels the most vulnerable.
As we try to fall asleep, the brain starts to rest, and lets down some of its usual defenses. Even before you get into bed to try to sleep, the lack of distractions can make bedtimes feel vulnerable. Furthermore, being able to wake up to nature is a luxury we wanted the homeowner to experience considering the views out of this apartment are limited to busy streets and neighbouring blocks.
