EVERY HALF is located in the heart of Da Lat, Vietnam, beside Xuan Huong Lake and opposite Anh Sang Park. The existing building accommodates a hospitality business on its upper floors. The design brief focused on renovating the façade and reconfiguring the ground floor to create a renewed spatial experience.
Hoohoo Studioo chose to visually separate the ground-floor base from the accommodation floors above, allowing the ground level to establish its own identity as an independent space. The new base forms a distinct architectural expression while opening up views toward the surrounding streetscape, greenery, and everyday urban life.
The entire base is clad in honeycomb stone, whose rugged, tactile surface lends the building a sense of solidity and a natural character. Vertical green elements draw the eye upward toward the intermediate floors, establishing a visual connection between the architecture and the surrounding vegetation.
Before entering the store, visitors pass through a landscaped area designed to evoke natural trails. Rather than following a clearly defined or rigid path, the circulation unfolds organically, recalling a narrow trail gradually shaped over time by vegetation and the contours of the terrain.
For Hoohoo studioo, renovating a building in Da Lat also presents an opportunity to restore a sense of closeness between people and nature. EVERY HALF Da Lat aspires to create a warm, greenery-filled environment where visitors can slow down and unwind, welcoming both local residents and travelers.
The project explores the idea that architecture does not always require layers of decoration to leave a lasting impression. Sometimes, preserving elements of the existing building, introducing a touch of greenery, embracing raw and natural materials, and allowing just the right amount of light can be enough to make a space feel more intimate and connected to both its users and the place it inhabits.
