Located outside the Capitol Beltway, leafy Potomac, Maryland was a hotbed for developer McMansions built in the 1980's.  Forty years later, tired houses led to stagnant real estate values and lack of interest in the area.  

Covid struck and that changed overnight- urban dwellers fled the city for large houses on private multi-acre lots.  Potomac was back- and our client wanted to give their newly purchased McMansion a FACELIFT.

The bones of the house were kept in-situ with existing windows stitched together as large gestures of glazing or infilled to quiet the facade.  A new roofscape of clerestory light monitors was built within the pitched roof of the home to protect the existing structure from the weather and allow interior work to be completed simultaneously.   After shedding the enormous trusses, a new aesthetic emerged, where Moroccan plaster melds brick and block into a flowing sculptural composition.
