The context is the industrial area on the outskirts of Adro, a jumble of factories without identity.The client is a solid company that has been handed down four generations of the desire for innovation, precision and respect for the environment. The object of the project is the construction of a vertical tamponage to expand production. The location of the facade near the main entrance has an opportunity to design an architecture with a strong individual able to renew the company’s image at the centenary of its foundation. Hence the intention to tackle the project as if it were an installation and then the envelope, not as a simple separation between inside and outside, but as a dynamic filter that can change appearance at different times of day or night. A diaphragm translucent able to filter the natural light and can be backlit to make the company identifiable at night. The night lighting system consists of 24 linear lights placed on a modular grid able to create a syncopate dinterplay of lights that transform the facade into a single luminous body visible in the distance. The fixture features a 58W fluorescent tube with a rear reflector and diffuser is positioned on the steel beams of the structure and rotated so as to direct the light upwards to illuminate avoiding too close to the lamp panel. Even the sign, placed at the top of the facade, exploits the characteristics of extruded polycarbonate translucent panel as it is accomplished by a dual sticker on the inner side which results in a different color depending on the weather conditions.
