Faculty of Law, Groningen

INBO as Architects

The University of Groningen’s Faculty of Law has moved to the city’s former public library. INBO and  Cruz y Ortiz designed the transformation and restructuring of the building on the Oude Boteringestraat in the city centre. The plan creates workspaces with plenty of daylight, various teaching halls and lots of meeting places.

The new entrance to the Faculty of Law leads to a central space with a reception desk, coffee bar and sojourn and study areas.

The daylight entering by the new and existing patios reaches the heart of the building. A wide podium staircase connects the reception hall with the basement. This is where the design team placed the student societies, practice court and bicycle storage.
