Overhead doors for fire brigade in Isselburg

The Isselburg fire brigade on Adolf-Donders-Allee has been given a fresh new look following the completion of extensive modernisation efforts. One major upgrade involved bringing the station’s doors in line with current technical standards. Over the course of approximately four weeks, intensive renovation work was carried out—resulting in both updated interior features and the replacement of the original 1960s wooden doors with modern, electrically operated folding doors.

Providing safety

Fitting the fire brigade with new overhead doors marked a key step in meeting evolving operational demands. The former wooden doors were no longer suitable for the future dimensions of emergency vehicles—neither in height nor width. This led to the decision to install modern, technically advanced doors. These not only comply with current standards but also better serve the practical needs of the firefighters. To enhance safety, the new door system includes a light curtain and a traffic light.

No more space problems

A standout feature of the new Compact overhead doors is their unique folding mechanism, which eliminates the need for overhead rails. This design maximizes the use of available ceiling space. At the Anholt fire station, the Compact doors were even mounted on the exterior of the building, preserving the limited interior space. Thanks to this smart installation, emergency vehicles can move in and out of the station with ease, without facing spatial constraints.

Completely modernised

Beyond the new doors, additional upgrades were made inside the station to enhance both functionality and comfort for the fire brigade. Approximately 20,000 euros were invested in interior painting, plastering, insulation, electrical installations, and slip-resistant tiling. These improvements ensure the fire station not only looks more modern but also meets important safety and operational standards.

Energy balance improved

Oliver Kiefmann, a member of the Anholt fire brigade, expressed his enthusiasm for the recent upgrades. He pointed out that the new overhead doors have significantly improved the station’s energy efficiency. The renovation has not only enhanced the energy performance but also created a more comfortable working environment for the firefighters. Wolfgang Terstegen from the municipal building management noted that the hall's previous technology and safety standards were outdated, making the modernisation essential. With the new folding doors and interior improvements, the Anholt fire brigade is now well-equipped to face the demands of modern firefighting effectively.
