The recently completed municipal yard in Nieuwveen features a hybrid structure that incorporates several wood construction techniques. This sustainable building makes use of both biobased and recycled materials. For this project, four Compact sectional doors were installed.
With this circular municipal yard, Nieuwveen aims to lead by example in sustainable public space management. The distinctive structure is constructed entirely from wood and features a diverse exterior finish using recycled materials. Its long, flowing design resembles a reptile, complete with a head, body, and tail. The eye-catching façade is made of Accoya wood combined with slats of reclaimed wood in varying thicknesses and tones. The facility is securely enclosed with specially designed sectional doors.
Energy saving
To help minimize electricity use, the municipal yard has been equipped with Compact sectional doors that feature integrated windows, allowing natural light to enter the building and lowering the need for artificial lighting. A total of four Compact doors with a combination of sandwich panels and glazed sections were installed. The energy strategy for the site reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and is designed to be entirely energy self-sufficient.
Space saving
The Compact sectional door offers more than just energy efficiency—it also saves space. With no overhead rails, it provides full clearance for tall vehicles and allows the building's interior height to be fully utilized.
