Frager Facade: Magnetic Technology as a Driver for Circular Façade Architecture

From Door Panel to Façade Concept
Innovation often stems from a specific technical challenge. At Frager, it originated in the development of high-quality aluminium door panels. To sustainably accommodate stresses and differences in material expansion, the company developed the patented Magnetude® system. What began s a solution within door technology evolved into a fully-fledged façade concept: Frager Facade.

With this step, Frager translates its accumulated material expertise into a broader architectural application. The result is a façade cladding system that combines aesthetics, technical reliability, and circularity in one integrated solution.

Magnetic Fixation as a Structural Principle
Where traditional aluminium façades often rely on adhesives or visible mechanical fixings, Frager decisively opts for magnetic fixation. The aluminium panels are mounted onto a custom-made frame profile using magnetic components—without any adhesives.

This approach provides a significant technical advantage: natural expansion and contraction of materials are effortlessly absorbed without risk of detachment or degradation of the connection. Temperature fluctuations, which can generate stress in bonded systems over time, have no negative impact on system performance.
At the same time, installation remains fully dry and demountable. Individual panels can be removed or replaced, significantly simplifying maintenance and future adaptations.

Aesthetic Calm and Design Freedom
The absence of visible fixings results in a clean and homogeneous façade appearance. Architects can visually integrate door panels, garage doors, and façade cladding into a single continuous plane. This continuity supports contemporary designs where minimalism, detailing, and materiality are central.

Frager Facade is modular in construction. First, the frame is mechanically anchored to the substructure. Then the aluminium panels are slid into the profile and magnetically fixed. Subtle shadow gaps, custom layouts, and corner solutions allow projects to be architecturally refined without compromising technical simplicity.
The system also allows for personalization, such as integrated lighting, logos, or house numbers—creating a façade that is not only technically high-performing but also conveys identity.

Circular and Future-Oriented
The construction sector is moving toward demountable and reusable systems. Frager Facade explicitly aligns with this trend. As no permanent adhesives are used, materials remain fully separable and can be efficiently recycled at the end of their lifecycle.
The combination of dry installation, replaceable individual panels, and durable material choices makes the system particularly suitable for future-oriented building projects.

The concept delivers not only aesthetic value but also a rational and low-maintenance solution for both residential and non-residential applications.

With Frager Facade, the Belgian company demonstrates how technological innovation can evolve into an architectural tool. By strategically applying magnetic technology to the building envelope, it creates a façade system that integrates performance, flexibility, and design freedom into a coherent and circular whole.
