This is a renovation project for a 43-year-old vintage apartment located in the city center.

The view from the apartment on the 7th floor is amazing, overlooking the greenery of the forest park and the city center.

The layout is staggered and has a balcony with sunlight coming in from three sides, and although the floor area is large at 110 m2, the rooms are fragmented, making it difficult to feel the spaciousness and view. The location of the bedroom, children's room, kitchen, and other water areas, which were separated by a structural wall of reinforced concrete, was not changed, but the only removable partition wall that separated the living room was removed, allowing more windows to be seen from the living room and dining room, creating a plan that allows the sense of spaciousness to be enjoyed.

The walk-in wardrobe for the whole family, located in one corner of the living room, has a partition wall that goes up to the beams and is open at the top. By connecting the ceiling, it is intended to create a sense of unity and spaciousness while being separated from the living and dining space.

The living room wall that connects the exterior wall of the balcony to the interior is finished in brick tiles, which are symbolic of the apartment's exterior wall finish. While the interior of the apartment tends to be separate from the rest of the building, we aimed for a finish that would give a sense of unity with the entire building and the dignity of a vintage apartment.

In response to the distinctive brick tile walls, the living room flooring is made of wide, thick, solid oak flooring with a strong presence, the same terracotta tiles as the entrance to the apartment are used for the bathroom floor, and the walls and ceiling are made of rough-grained plastering material with a textured feel. By combining various materials with similar colors, the finish has a sense of unity and calm.

The ceiling height is gradually changed to minimize the hidden piping from the upper floors, and indirect lighting is installed in the resulting step, achieving both design and function. The dark entrance hall, which does not face the outside, is provided with indirect lighting using the step in the beams, and the bedroom door is made of movable louvers to ensure brightness. The wall connecting the hallway to the living room is a large R-curved surface, and the light that flows in from the living space in a gradual manner invites you to a brighter direction.

Numerous art pieces from the client's collection are displayed on the large walls of the living room and entrance hall, and the tile walls and shaded plaster walls give off the air of a vintage apartment, aiming to create a home with the appearance of a museum.
