The visitor center began as part of a graduate job at the School of Architecture in Stockholm.
Mikael Hasselfinished the project together with pS Arkitektur. The project's two materials, grey timber and black painted steel together with burnt wood, symbolize the previous forest and the fire. The knot - tradition has inspired the design language and details. Simple grips such as the twisted roof cams create direction for interesting views.
The small buildings are located along a 300 meters long footpath up on the Grävlingsberget. The WC- building is located next to the parking lot at the start of the footpath. The outdoor class room with a roof terrace and outdoor space under for teaching and grilling. Information sites along the sidewalk tell us about the recovery of nature. The footpath concludes with a grand viewpoint and a 12-meter-high tower with miles-wide views of both fire-damaged and fresh forest. The view tower consists of three compact volumes stacked on each other and rotated to achieve varied views.
In the area there are also barbecue spots and star-studded sofas in the same design language as other additions to give a cohesive feeling and recognition.
