The existingconstruction is demolished and replaced by an open space under a new gable roof. The ridgepole, designed as an over-scaled, lightweightgirder, follows the subdivision of the main building. It spatiallysuggeststwo zones: a narrowfunctional strip, and a free zone next to it. A bitefrom the roof makes room foranexistingwindow in the rear façade of the old building andthrows light into the deepest point of the construction. On the garden side the roof extendsinto a canopy, which shelters the terraceandsouth-west oriented façade.

The folding window can be opened entirely and the fixed window profiles are hidden behind the structure, which allows the space to extend into the garden.
