This single family home is located in the small town of Guasca, on the outskirts of Colombian capital Bogota. The plot is mostly flat, but it has a dense forest going up a hill on the half back side. The house has a traditional configuration where the social areas are located on the ground floor and on the top floor, 4 en-suite bedrooms are located, as well as a large family room.
Even though Colombia is right in the middle of the tropic, the Bogotá Savanah is on top of the Andes mountain range at an elevation of almost 2700m (8.530 ft.) this makes for a chilly weather at nights where the temperature drops just above freezing point, but if the days are sunny and clear the temperature can rise to 27°C (80.6°F) This can happen all year round. The social areas of the home as well as the bedrooms are all facing west to take in the heat of the setting sun to warm the house at night. The house is located just next to a rising hill, in order to take advantage of the flat garden which is in direct connection to the social areas, as well to an outdoor kitchen and fireplace.
The bedrooms on the top floor open to a large terrace to enjoy the amazing views of the Andes Mountain range and the valley of Guasca. On the east side of the top floor the family room has open views to the dense forest next to the house, and has a bridge which makes a direct link to the forest.
The house is currently under construction and it is expected to be finished on January 2022
