The project is located in Mortsel, in Antwerp. It's a closed single-family house.
The house was characterized by a spacious ground floor, which had little or no relationship with the deep & green city garden. The intervention was a logical consequence of this.

The ground floor was opened up to the maximum (both structurally and in facade). This creates an almost seamless connection between inside and outside. A folding wall and a continuous floor finish further strengthen this relationship.

The terrace feels like an extension of the kitchen/dining room, and the kitchen conversely feels like an “outdoor kitchen” or covered terrace. Furthermore, the exterior joinery was placed on the outside of the façade, making it flush with the crepi façade finish. The direct consequence, and necessity, is the ability to place a kitchen island parallel to the folding wall. That island also contributes to the indoor-outdoor relationship that is fully developed. 

The project is an example of the cohesion between architecture - interior and landscape that we strive for in all our projects.
