The Ilani Casino resort is owned and operated by the Cowlitz Indian Tribe of Washington state. Over a decade after the tribe's acquisition of the proper licensure, the casino opened to the public in 2017 with over 2,000 slot machines and 75 table games. Since then, the property has undergone expansions to include an events center, hotel and additional gaming space. 

Notable on the exterior of the casino resort is the entrance canopy. ALPOLIC metal composite materials in Prismatic Lagoon finish clad the fascia of the curved structure. These panels, manufactured to present a look that changes according to point of view, morph colors from green to aqua to bright blue. 

Friedmutter Group, a firm specializing in casino design, is the architect of record. Southam and Associates fabricated the ALPOLIC into multiple diamonds for the fascia, giving the canopy the impression of reptilian scales. The look speaks to the surrounding property of the casino resort, particularly the neighboring wildlife refuge.
