A single-family residential project by Nogalya, located in the southwestern part of Mexico City and nestled in the city's wooded area, offers a rich, dynamic, and welcoming architectural experience.
The living room is the backbone of the project due to its spatial location, articulating the house's spaces. Situated in a double-height area, it comes to life thanks to the herringbone floor design that, through a diagonal layout, interlaces wooden and granite pieces, subtly guiding towards the various spaces of the residence. In this space, the geometric black wire chandeliers introduce an industrial contrast consistent with the concrete walls, providing contemporary elegance.
The double height, emphasized by the floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, serves not only as a decorative element but also as an ingenious divider that directs circulation towards the more intimate areas. This bookshelf offers a visual perspective of the circulation, creating a sense of openness and connectivity across different levels, thanks to the rhythm generated by randomly arranged panels, allowing light to enter between the social space and the staircase circulation.
Highlighting visual cohesion, a wooden ceiling unites the floors and ceilings, contributing to a cozy atmosphere and fluidly connecting the different elements of the space. Additionally, the introduction of distinctive elements, such as the elegant composition in black Monterrey marble with white veins and a golden finish, adds a distinctive touch to the overall design.
The strategically located dining room becomes a focal point, characterized by the contrast between the robustness of reinforced concrete and the perfection of white plaster ceilings. Crowning this space is a mixed-technique mural painted on a mirror, adding dimension, color, and boldness to the ensemble.
The stairs, covered in black Monterrey marble, add a touch of luxury and enrich the space's journey. The living room connects to a terrace, establishing a harmonious link between the interior and the surrounding nature, making us feel as though we are within the forest. Additionally, the wooden floor harmoniously merges with a granite coating in the kitchen, achieving an aesthetic and functional transition.
In intimate areas, such as the master bedroom, an aesthetic play seeks to balance elegance and modernity, counteracting the inherent coldness of the concrete walls. Strategically placed, textiles from the bed set and black and white linen rugs, following the interior's color palette, add a touch of luxury and refinement to the room. The presence of a Barcelona chair on an artificial cowhide adds a playful element to the room, while maintaining the elegance that characterizes the space. Additionally, a beveled mirror nightstand with black hardware complements the aesthetic, blending functionality and style in this intimate environment.
In terms of design and textures, a harmonious balance is achieved between the solid cast concrete walls and the carefully designed furniture by the group, incorporating the warmth of walnut wood and sophisticated touches of Carrara marble. The project stands out for its ability to seamlessly blend volumetric elements and robust materials, such as reinforced concrete and steel, which fluidly intertwine with walnut woods, black, white, and gray marbles, as well as bold art pieces and decorative elements, contributing to the richness and uniqueness of the space.
