The Intuit Bayshore Building is the second purpose-built office building on the Mountain View campus of financial technology company Intuit and represents a new generation of workplace design shaped by changing patterns of work. Originally conceived by Clive Wilkinson Architects before the pandemic and redesigned during construction, the building responds to the demands of hybrid working through flexible planning, inclusive environments, and long-term adaptability.

Achieving LEED Platinum certification, the four-storey, 178,600-square-foot building accommodates approximately 960 employees while prioritising environmental performance, occupant well-being, and operational resilience.

Flexible workplaces and long-term adaptability

The building is organised around large, open floor plates divided into human-scaled neighbourhoods that support a range of working styles. Rather than assigning fixed functions to individual spaces, the design accommodates collaboration, focused work, informal meetings, and social interaction within an adaptable framework.

A key sustainability strategy is the incorporation of a raised access floor system, allowing building services and workplace infrastructure to be reconfigured without significant demolition or reconstruction. This flexibility extends the building’s useful life by enabling it to evolve with organisational and technological change while reducing future material waste. At ground level, a multi-purpose dining space with a full-service kitchen also functions as a venue for campus-wide meetings and events, supporting efficient use of space throughout the day.

Daylight, biophilia, and occupant wellbeing

At the centre of the building is a three-storey atrium, lit by large linear skylights that introduce daylight into the interior. This central volume improves visual connectivity between floors while reducing dependence on artificial lighting during daytime operation. A timber-clad staircase integrated with extensive planting encourages movement between floors, reducing reliance on lifts while reinforcing everyday physical activity.

Greenery, natural materials, and generous daylight create a biophilic environment that enhances occupant well-being and establishes a strong connection between architecture and nature. Throughout the building, a diverse range of settings, including libraries, reflection rooms, music rooms, collaborative hubs, and informal lounges, supports different work preferences while promoting mental health, creativity, and social interaction.

Sustainable performance through thoughtful design

Rather than relying solely on technical systems, the project integrates sustainability into its architectural planning. Flexible layouts reduce the need for future renovation, while durable finishes and adaptable infrastructure contribute to long-term operational efficiency. LEED Platinum certification reflects a comprehensive approach to resource efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and environmental performance.
