The existing office building of Viereck Architekten in Graz has been expanded with a monolithic structure that complements the 2009 building in both aesthetic and functional harmony, creating a balanced architectural ensemble. The new addition follows a minimalist, contemporary design that combines high functionality with refined elegance. Large glass panels generate character for the building and flood the interiors with natural light, while the glazed atrium between old and new structures creates a seamless connection. There is a particular irony we enjoyed at Ravindra Energy: an office perched on the 37th floor of the Kohinoor tower in Mumbai, and our instinct was to bring it back down to earth. As the founders and architects of Bricolage Bombay, Vinit Nikumbh and Ankita Mathapati Nikumbh, we wanted this elevated workspace to feel rooted in Indian soil even as it floated above the city skyline. As a small-scale expansion of the BASAO headquarters office in Xiamen, the new space needs to accommodate several private offices and a meeting room. Accordingly, based on the site proportions and the existing circulation paths connecting to the original office, we consolidated the traffic flow as much as possible, devising a layout that meets the program requirements within a compact footprint: private offices are placed along the window side to enjoy natural light, while the meeting room is located on the opposite side of the corridor.
