A Contemporary Ritual of Matcha, Coffee, and Design
KUMO is a contemporary space dedicated to the art of matcha and specialty coffee, where minimalist architecture, refined materials, and atmospheric lighting come together to create a distinctive spatial experience.
The design concept is rooted in simplicity, balance, and the relationship between light and material. Our intention was to create more than a coffee destination — a place where architecture becomes part of the everyday ritual, encouraging visitors to slow down, connect, and appreciate the surrounding environment.

One of the defining architectural features of KUMO is its generous ceiling height, which offered an opportunity to introduce a unique design element. Rather than treating the ceiling as a conventional surface, we transformed it into an atmospheric installation inspired by natural daylight. Through carefully integrated illumination and a sculptural ceiling composition, the space creates the impression of light filtering down from the sky. This soft, diffused glow brings a sense of openness and calm, establishing an almost ethereal atmosphere within the interior.

The material palette reflects a contemporary interpretation of minimalism, combining the industrial precision of stainless steel with the natural warmth of wood and the tactile sophistication of leather. Stainless steel furniture and detailing introduce a clean, reflective character, while wooden surfaces provide warmth and visual balance. Leather elements add comfort and texture, softening the architectural language without compromising its minimalist identity.

Throughout the space, every element has been considered in relation to proportion, materiality, and functionality. The furniture follows a restrained design language, with clean geometries and carefully selected finishes that complement the overall architectural composition. Rather than relying on decorative excess, the interior allows materials, textures, and light to become the primary expressions of design.

The contrast between cool metallic surfaces and warmer natural finishes creates a subtle visual tension, giving KUMO a distinctive character that feels both contemporary and inviting. The lighting further enhances this dialogue, revealing the qualities of each material while maintaining a calm and cohesive atmosphere.
Ultimately, KUMO represents our approach to creating spaces that are visually memorable yet effortlessly functional. It is an environment where modern design meets the culture of specialty coffee and matcha, transforming a simple daily routine into a considered architectural experience.
