La Vinya House

BeOnLand as Landscape Architects

The garden of La Vinya House, located within the PGA Golf of Catalunya, measures 1.200 square meters and is surrounded by the access road in the northwest, a neighbours parcel in the east and the golf camp in the south. Aromatic plants are accompanying the paths until the house and are surrounding the outdoor areas, and creating a connection with the textures and the colors of the existing vegetation. Beams are taking over the function of marking the paths through the garden and are creating at the same time a playground area for children. The idea of reusing materials provokes the proposal of a garden of sensations. It is located close to an area which maintains its original topography and vegetation, making use of the shadow spend by the existing trees.

Small terraces are created which are working with the topography and are producing different areas with different materials which are allowing kids and grown-ups to sense their textures and getting a direct relation with nature by touching them – or with hands or feet – (sand, pine cones, gravel among others). The possibility of sensing and seeing these materials in a different way gives an added value to the open space and at the same time they get transformed into pleasant playing areas in a natural surrounding. This allows a free renewal in the sense of that these areas can be recycled and materials be changed. For example it is possible to use pine cones only in a certain period of the year and replace them when they start to decompose through other materials like tree bark or gravel.
