Located in the Grand Théâtre de Québec, Le Studio is a new artistic venue. The space includes a bar, a kitchen and an exhibition area with a stage.
The aim was to create an iconic venue worthy of the Grand Théâtre de Québec's reputation, while conceiving the stage space as a blank canvas free of interpretation and appropriation for artists and the diversity of their performances.Open on show nights, its free admission and universal access aim to broaden horizons and diversify audiences to democratize access to art in all its forms, whether digital, musical, gastronomic or architectural.
Open on show nights, its free admission and universal access aim to broaden horizons and diversify audiences to democratize access to art in all its forms, whether digital, musical, gastronomic or architectural. By offering a convivial place where people can gather before or after a show, The Studio of the Grand Théâtre de Québec area will be able to raise its profile as a cultural hub, while stimulating the economic vitality of the surrounding area.
The multi-purpose organization of the space is built around two distinct zones to accommodate artists, performers and spectators in the same intimate space. The reception and service area are composed of a monochrome of reds, evoking the imaginary world of performance, and creating an inviting signal visible from the street. On the other side, black is used to dress the space neutrally and soberly, like a stage, to emphasize the works on display. The openness of the space on all four levels allows great freedom in the creation of the works.
The challenge lay in the subtle integration of the various electrical components required for the exhibits.
The project was developed in conjunction with the Grand Théâtre's technical team and artistic director, to ensure that the vision was reflected in every detail.
