Living- & nursing zone 'De Ark' is part of a comprehensive urban development and restructuring in the eastern part of the centre of Dronten. This development contains three stages: De Ark, De Regenboog and De Beesten. Those six buildings will be connected by walkways. The construction of De Ark contains, except 88 apartments on the floors, 3500 m² of multifunctional spaces on the ground level; meeting rooms, healthcare facilities, a pharmacy room, rooms for group homes and paramedics are realized. The building is shaped like a ship that floats above the water level in the former soil. The existing nursing home, De Regenboog is completely restructured and expanded. Here are group homes for psycho geriatric and somatic patients housed. In the wings of the building are independent living units and on the ground floor multi-purpose rooms with a restaurant, shop, library, hairdresser, meeting room etc.
