The residential building is situated at the intersection of ‘De Groene Loper’ (the above-ground development of the A2 tunnel route) and the Wittevrouweveld neighborhood center. The apartment building and the homes do not exhibit the usual stringing and stacking of floor plans, but instead seek their own ‘rhythm’ for the entire block.
In this project, the aim was to create a distinctive sculptural facade structure that does not immediately express the underlying function of the living room and balcony. It also involved finding a fitting tone in relation to the beautiful adjacent church (Arch. F. Peutz 1936) constructed from Kunrader and Sibber marl in both scale and color.
