MA House

MA House

BAUM as Architects

By taking advantage of the site`s unique and favorable conditions, BAUM, Japan based office, developed a plan for a single-story house with a courtyard. Covered with a large pitched roof, the indoor is extended outside to the patio and beyond in a cozy atmosphere creating a sense of intimacy. Inside every room is connected while also retaining a sense of independence.

The corridor between the exterior layer and the interior is typically Japanese but in here traditional paper screen has been replaced by glass, enhancing the link with the courtyard. This path functions as a circulation route by also providing with a pleasant walking experience.

As for the interior design, BAUM chose a balanced mix between Scandinavian vintage furniture and industrial design elements. Wood color is the major tune of the house, to help create a warm environment.
