The existing building forms a harmonious whole with its underground extension located on a raised plateau, which offers a dynamic view of Lake Geneva and the western region of Lausanne. The creation of a generous opening ensures that natural light is brought into this new space, while remaining discreet so as not to compromise the reading of the façade and the protected English garden.
The quality of the existing interior spaces is improved by the creation of new openings in the façade, maximizing light and views towards the garden as well as by reinforcing the interior circulation with a new staircase and elevator.
The existing interior ambiance, created by the plaster ceilings, walls covered by painted woodwork, and parquet floors, has been enriched and diversified with the use of noble materials and contemporary objects.
