The highest environmental accreditation of any M&S store

Our new sustainable store for M&S, built over two floors, the store in Cheshire Oaks near Chester is their largest outside of London. It has the highest environmental accreditation of any M&S store, having received a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, making use of free air cooling, a biomass boiler and incorporating WRAP principles to ‘design out waste’.

The elegant structural frame, visible from inside the store and which lends the building its external form, assists in bringing north light into the building, flooding the store with natural light throughout the day. Walls are constructed from Hempcrete, which provides a highly thermally insulated building that absorbs carbon throughout the building’s life.
