Martínez de Rozas Housing Estate (MDR) is an 11 row housing complex located on Quinta Normal, on the border of Santiago City center. The Project aim is to respond to the mid class lack of home. People who are just above the poverty line, representing above 60% of Santiago population. Santiago is under a gentrification process, forcing originary people to walk out of the center to get affordable living.
MDR represent a regenerative model for those neighborhoods with hig density and low heigth. A model that join the quality of a house with the comfort of an appartment, getting the cars on the underground to get more pulic space on the Surface. MDR also uses the rooftop to increase open area for leisure. MDR offer an affordable way of living that is respecful with its context.
