This refined 35 sqm apartment in central Milan is a perfect example of how to optimize small spaces without sacrificing style. Characterized by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the apartment skillfully blends minimalist and elegant elements, creating a harmonious and luminous environment.
The strategic use of colors and materials gives the project strong visual impact while keeping the space open and airy. The entrance is enhanced by a warm brick tone that welcomes guests with a cozy embrace. This same hue is echoed in the bedroom area, both in the upholstered double bed and poufs, adding an additional layer of comfort.
Moving towards the windows, the palette lightens with shades of beige and taupe, visible in the kitchen and custom wardrobe, creating a serene and relaxing ambiance, perfect for a couple’s lifestyle.
Contrasting Details and Quality Materials
The apartment is enriched with elegant contrasting details, such as golden finishes on selected lamps and decorative elements. Black finishes were chosen for slender and linear components, such as the steel profiles of the custom glass wall and the chair legs, adding a touch of sophisticated modernity.
We introduced a recurring design motif throughout the apartment: the circle, a symbol of continuity and harmony. This element can be found in the poufs, the table, the bathroom mirror, and in the lighting design, where conical and cylindrical shapes were deliberately chosen. This design coherence creates a sense of unity and fluidity.
Functionality and Comfort
Despite its compact size, this apartment offers all the comfort necessary for a pleasant and functional daily life. The kitchen, complete with dishwasher and washer/dryer, was designed to optimize space and make every routine action comfortable and practical. Numerous storage solutions ensure the apartment always remains tidy.
The bedroom area features a spacious storage bed and a custom wall-to-wall wardrobe. Its interior layout was carefully designed with three distinct sections to meet the needs of a couple, offering separate areas for each partner as well as additional space for household items and cleaning products.
A Refined and Functional Bathroom
Although compact, the bathroom was designed with great attention to comfort and detail. The above-counter Elleci washbasin rests on a natural wood custom-made vanity top, paired with a backlit round mirror that combines elegance and practicality. Behind it, a tall recessed niche provides generous shelving for bathroom essentials.
The walk-in shower with custom-made glass keeps the space visually open and bright, while maintaining a warm and soft color palette. Minimal framing enhances the perception of spaciousness, creating a refined and relaxing atmosphere.
A Living Space that Inspires
This small apartment is a testament to how architecture and interior design can combine aesthetics, functionality, and comfort to create the perfect retreat in the heart of Milan. Every detail has been carefully designed to provide maximum well-being and practicality, without ever compromising on a refined and modern style.
