The National Theatre in Taipei was built in the mid 1980s and equipped with the most advanced technologies then available. Since the theatre complex opened, productions have become larger and more complicated, and the theatre’s technical installations have become dated.
Theateradvies bv was commissioned to research the feasibility of carrying out a thorough renovation of the theatre structure including its automated rigging systems. The design brief also included the logistics of the loading and unloading facilities.
The client was inspired by the projects that Theateradvies bv had carried out in the Netherlands, including the renovations of the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam and the Koninklijk Theater Carré. Theateradvies’s feasibility study is now being used as a guide to assess the future of the theatre.
