NOIR is an executive office whose identity is shaped by two defining aspects: the client’s connection to the shipping and maritime industries, and his affinity for the color black. The project’s name, NOIR, is the French word for “black”—a color that has become the primary element shaping the interior.
The space is organized into two main areas: the executive office and the reception and meeting area. Despite their different functions, they are unified through a shared language of materials, color, and detailing, creating a cohesive whole.
The project’s dark palette is inspired by black and the atmosphere of the maritime world. Here, the connection to the sea is not expressed symbolically, but through qualities such as depth, darkness, reflection, and stillness. Wood, veined stone, dark surfaces, and linear lighting create a calm and formal atmosphere, while the restrained use of olive green in the furniture introduces subtle visual focal points.
Integrated wall shelving serves not only a functional purpose but also contributes to the spatial identity of the project by creating rhythm and depth. All furniture, tables, wooden elements, and a significant portion of the interior details were custom-designed and crafted specifically for the project.
NOIR is an attempt to transform the client’s identity and his connection to the maritime world into a spatial experience—not through a literal representation of the sea, but by redefining its qualities through black, materiality, light, and depth.
