Background
Amicus and Nokia have cultivated a trusted partnership for more than a decade, grounded in innovation, transparency and a shared ambition to shape the future of work. This project represents the latest evolution of that relationship. Tasked with reinvigorating Nokia’s Front of House and key communal areas, the brief called for a workplace that honours the organisation’s global heritage while projecting its ongoing evolution as a leader in technology and human connectivity.
Nokia sought an environment that clearly communicates its brand identity—forward-thinking, dynamic and deeply connected—while delivering an uplifting experience for staff and visitors. With a defined budget and a compressed program leading into the Christmas period, the project demanded a strategic and agile design approach that could achieve maximum impact within practical constraints.
Solution
Amicus collaborated closely with Nokia to elevate both functionality and aesthetic expression across the workplace. The transformed reception area establishes a strong first impression, anchored by a full-height illuminated feature wall that softly transitions through Nokia’s signature palette. This sculptural lighting element acts as a beacon—both welcoming and distinctly branded—bridging global identity with local presence.
Across the office floors, full-height graphic installations curated by Nokia celebrate the brand’s pioneering role in innovation and human connection. These visual stories animate circulation paths and breakout zones, injecting energy while reinforcing a clear narrative of progress.
The Boardroom and Breakout spaces were reimagined to support flexibility and cohesion. An operable wall system enables a seamless shift between an intimate executive setting and a larger town hall environment. Acoustic treatments ensure discretion where needed, while the adjoining breakout space encourages openness, collaboration and informal exchange.
Sustainability informed every design decision. A robust reuse strategy included re-upholstering existing furniture, integrating green-rated materials and carefully curating finishes to minimise waste and reduce environmental impact. This approach aligned with both budget objectives and Nokia’s wider sustainability commitments.
A significant feature of the project is a collaboration with First Nations artist Dennis Golding. His work introduces cultural depth, storytelling and a strong sense of place within the breakout area. Alongside an Acknowledgment of Country, this partnership reinforces Nokia’s commitment to respect, inclusion and meaningful community engagement.
Outcome
The renewed Nokia workspace harmonises the company’s heritage with its progressive vision for the future. The interiors blend refinement with vibrancy, with signature lighting and brand colours adding warmth, rhythm and a quietly energetic atmosphere.
Enhanced flexibility enables teams to work, meet and gather in multiple modes, while the sustainable reuse of materials underscores a shared ethos of environmental responsibility. The integration of First Nations artistry adds a culturally rich layer of meaning, grounding the workspace in connection—to people, place and purpose.
Through a considered interior design approach and seamless delivery, Amicus has helped shape a workplace that reflects who Nokia is today while inspiring its continued evolution—strengthening a partnership built on trust, innovation and a shared view of what the future of work can be.
