The refurbishment of the exhibition of the North Sea Oceanarium is a blend of the aquariums, interactive exhibitions and a special labyrinth structure, where the guests can walk in each side of the aquarium, along the side or get different views from either the ground floor or the balcony. The frame is a brick building, which in a square of 26.5 x 26.5 meters, inside this defined exhibition space.
All the exhibition elements are placed in a free standing sculpture. The new main structure is cast in situ concrete and all other structures are made of steel structures.
Hereby is the special experience a series of different views that like the narrow streets of the medieval city creates a guest the experience of a dense angled universe.
The materials underline this storytelling where the concrete is dark, the steel structures are polished and light in colures and the main scenographic icon of the exhibition is the artificial ship hanging in the main space as a balcony.
The theme of the exhibition is organized in a series of destination where the guest travel to parts of the North Sea and experiences the marine lift and this is put into the form of entertainment so all generation are facilitated in the experience.
