Palazzo Dami – Piano Nobile

Zeno Pucci + Architects as Architects

The house is located on the main floor of a historic building in Florence redesigned in 1735 by the architects Giovacchino Fortini and Ferdinando Ruggieri for Giuliano Dami, a favorite of the Grand Duke Giangastone dè Medici.

The main concept of the project by the Zeno Pucci + Architects studio was to revisit this historic residence in a contemporary key, through the inclusion of highly modern furniture elements with a very minimalist style.

The atmosphere can be sensed from the entrance, where, due to the wall decorations, we are catapulted into a historical space that is well contrasted by the furnishings present. Then there is the perspective escape of the gallery frescoed by Niccolò Pintucci, which portrays ancient landscapes, shielded from architectural whims, partially covered by wild vegetation.

In the large hall, marked by the coffered ceiling of the 1400s painted with geometric motifs, the furnishings give a modern style in contrast with the historicity of the room, as in the dining room itself. In what was once the family chapel, a study has now been created, but the atmosphere always brings back a very sober and discreet modernity.

The master bedroom also follows the mood of the whole house, such as the headboard in pietra serena upholstered with white leather, and the two modern seats at the foot of the bed.

Movements and atmospheres of yesteryear that draw the kitchen, where the modern still blends with the ancient, with the large gray bardiglio sink that takes up the color of the decorations on the ivory slaked stone walls, the iron sideboard corten and opaque backlit glass.
