Built on a 516 sq. m. plot in the eastern suburb of Papagou, in close proximity to Mount Hymettus, these residences combine the tranquility of nature with the convenience of urban living.
The building consists of a ground-floor apartment, two full-floor apartments, and a three-story penthouse. Its exterior features two vertical surfaces that subtly protrude from the main structure, creating a visual boundary from neighboring buildings. This design orients the living spaces of each apartment to the east and west, providing necessary cross-ventilation and allowing residents to enjoy views of the natural environment to the east and the urban landscape to the west.
The vertical surfaces and projecting platforms create semi-outdoor spaces that extend the interior. Large openings highlight the horizontal floors, expanding the living areas outward.
Inside each unit, room sequences are determined by their relation to adjacent outdoor terraces and the garden, as well as their connection to the surrounding landscape. The ground floor has access to private gardens on both sides of the plot, with the living space directly connected to a private pool. On the second and third floors, the room arrangement is reversed, with the lounge and kitchen facing the street and extending to spacious outdoor terraces, while the bedrooms are placed on the west side.
The 260 sq.m. penthouse spans the third and fourth floors, and the rooftop, featuring double-height living spaces, four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a library, and an office space.
Special attention was given to the materials and color palette. The external walls are covered with thermal insulation coated in coarse plaster in two shades of grey. The lighter shade is applied to the protruding surfaces, which serve as backdrops for other elements. The black chimneys, metal railings, and exterior fence convey the building's industrial character, balanced by the warm tone of wood cladding on the façade and balcony ceilings.
From the outside, the penthouse is veiled by a metal screen that emphasizes the architectural composition while providing privacy and shade. A pergola hovers over the building, adding lightness and a sense of elevation. The roof garden, accessed exclusively by the penthouse, features a private swimming pool and offers panoramic views of the city and Mount Hymettus.
Out intention was to break the monotony of the urban landscape and challenge conventional aesthetics. With its striking morphology—featuring horizontal and vertical planes, dark plaster, charcoal metallic elements, and expansive glass surfaces—the building exudes a robust character that sets it apart from the ordinary.
