The modern character of the residences in Chalandri, in the northern suburbs of Athens, makes them stand out from their neighboring buildings of past decades, thus fostering an architecture that seeks to relate to its surroundings by way of contrast.

The architectural design is centered around two main volumes that are intertwined. The outer shell acts as a white envelope that hugs the building and embraces all the interior spaces whereas a smaller volume emerges from within, protrudes outwards from the front and the back of the building and outlines the outdoor spaces. These two core elements become even more distinct due to their respective materials. The larger one is coated with external thermal insulation while the smaller one is made of exposed concrete which adds an industrial feel to the design. 

On the inside, the configuration of the spaces follows the weaving of the two volumes. For example, the gap created between them, on the northeast side, accommodates the stairwell and the elevator, while the exposed concrete wall enters the interior and acts as a firm boundary between the common areas and the private spaces. The building accommodates three apartments, namely two lofts and one duplex apartment, whose typology differs based on their relationship with the outside.

The unit on the ground floor enjoys direct access to the two gardens, with the living and relaxation areas located both at the front and at the back. On the upper floors, the arrangement of the rooms changes by placing the living room and the kitchen to the front, on Othonos Street, as one with the terraces, while the bedrooms are situated in the back.

Taking into consideration the natural light and the visual contact between inside and out, the building seeks to maintain a dynamic relationship with its surroundings, which is amplified by the signature blinds that adorn its façade and provide sun protection and privacy. Their linear geometry is mirrored in the fencing, the timber cladding inside the apartments, and the concrete pergola that crowns the rooftop and combines functionality with a sculptural approach to light.
