When the architectural office of Hernandez architects was commissioned to reform this penthouse located in the heart of Valencia, an apartment that responded to the outcome of many years of storage without following a clear criterion was found. Customers wanted to renovate the common areas of their home, to be enjoyed by a large family that likes to spend much time together. With this premise and the potential of a triplex penthouse the sketches began. An important part of the great change was given by the openings of floor to ceiling with large windows. The rear part of the house flood of light the kitchen and dining room while the sliding doors that go out to the terrace, when opening are completely embedded in the wall, creating an interesting communication, both visual and spatial, between terrace and lounge. The terrace is glazed using a system that turns profiles unnecessarily and allows to open entirety when you want to, whereas in the colder months the crystal box will be closed creating a lounge dining room with very nice views and where you can enjoy the sun of Valencia. A fixed transparent glass separates spatially the dining room from the kitchen and vice versa, and through a few machined screens the visual privatization is also achieved. Through some planks of the same wood and the same finishes(, the same wood and finishing) as the soil , an interesting and rhythmic lattice is created in the entrance to the dwelling, narrowing the space to create a simple and bright lobby that sifted the vision of the dining room. The large sofa accommodates all the members of the family, creating a space for relation next to the new fireplace designed next to the ladder, and that gives warmth and verticality to the new space. The access ladder to the attic also brings a sculptural touch to the living room, maintaining the old iron staircase but lining the steps with the same wood as the rest of the house, oak lacquered in light gray. The attic has been left as play area and library, devising a broad study table that rolls over the double height lounge and enjoy the light and spaciousness that it brings.
