Piazza Pasticcio

Piazza Pasticcio, the latest project by MYT+GLVDK, merges Italian tradition with Mexican creative vision in a 1920s building in Colonia Juárez. The restoration preserves original architectural elements while integrating technology for comfort and functionality.
Led by Francesco Gaillard, Grupo Pasticcio offers a culinary experience centered around pasta. The concept includes Piazza Pasticcio and Alimentari Pasticcio, a store featuring sauces, cheeses, and wines that evoke la dolce vita. Under the direction of chef Matteo Zega, the menu celebrates Italian tradition with antipasti, pasta dishes, and signature desserts.

The restaurant is organized around a central courtyard with a retractable roof, creating a versatile atmosphere. During the day, natural light enhances the open and relaxed setting; at night, dim lighting fosters intimacy. Designed by Regina Galvanduque and Andrés Mier y Terán, the space encourages conviviality, featuring vertical gardens, stone fountains, and terracotta pots that add to its sense of calm.
One of its standout elements is the use of Mexican onyx in bars, countertops, and tables. With hues of yellow, orange, and ivory, this material establishes a visual and tactile connection with local craftsmanship. The combination of wood, textiles, and metal balances rustic charm with sophistication, reflecting a dialogue between tradition and modernity.

The furniture, inspired by the 1960s, includes Nordic-style chairs with cane backs and a refined take on the director’s chair. Uniforms, designed in collaboration with ⅛ Takamura, feature modern tailoring and high-quality textiles that align with Italian aesthetics.

The color palette—muted greens, wine reds, and mustards—maintains a strong connection to Italian tradition, present in both the interiors and the brand identity created by Marion Zanette. This cohesive visual language extends from the space’s design to the product packaging.

The pasta workshop, visible to diners, is a performance in itself: a choreography of expert hands kneading, cutting, and shaping the dough with precision. This sensorial experience reflects generations of craftsmanship and the attention to detail that defines Piazza Pasticcio.

In a second phase, a bar on the upper floor will reinforce the inviting atmosphere with cognac and bottle-green furnishings, blown glass lamps, and bronze accents. Every design element underscores the commitment to authenticity and excellence, transporting visitors to a corner of Italy in the heart of Mexico City.
