This is a 2000 sf renovation of a pre-war apartment on New York's Upper West Side. Originally an interior courtyard unit with minimal light, the new plan was created with sensitivity to the exterior wall maximizing natural light from the windows at every surface. Subtle built-in millwork lines the entry hallway providing a huge amount of storage and workspace for this busy family of four. Each of the children's rooms have had millwork added since the original renovation. Special spaces were identified early on for the owners artwork and photography collection. The whole design is a modern intervention on a pre-war classic. Details, finishes and overall layouts remind the user of its original turn of the century stateliness.
