Offstage designed and built a large apartment in the Cinque Giornate area in Milan, transforming it into a customized environment for a family of four. A house to enjoy and invite friends. One unit per floor (with a private lift), a service area separated from the main one and two very different views testify to a way of planning and living typical of the bourgeoisie of the 1950s, that had to be tailored, in a respectful but significant way, to meet the needs of a today's family.

If the magnificent and large window on Viale Premuda, element of great impact, is enhanced, becoming the focus of the project, the distribution of the rooms is rethought in depth: the kitchen, at first smaller and placed in a secluded position, it’s now combined with the living area on the main glaced front, to form a single, seamless space. The sleeping area is distributed on the internal front, with the exception of the master bedroom which, placed on the noble side, allows access to one of the two terraces located on the two sides of the main front of the apartment.

Key elements of the project are the choice to separate the rooms with custom- made furnishings, in order to hide direct accesses, with retractable doors, the establishment of a constant dialogue between horizontal and vertical surfaces, and the combination of contrasting materials and tones, with the aim to create an environment that is rigorous but informal at the same time. Color is the watchword, declined on bespoke elements and finishes with a high material and sensorial impact.

Starting from the gray / blue of the walls and the wisteria pink of the boiserie and wardrobes, up to the bright pink of the hallway of the sleeping area, in contrast with the Ceppo di Gré stoneware tiles of two shades of gray and the French herringbone parquet in natural oak on the floors. Offstage, as always, gave great attention to lighting, integrated into the project from the very first stage and translated into different sources of light, which create a variety of scenarios depending on functions and needs.

Material Used:

1. Flooring: Mirage gres tiles, Norr collection in two shades of grey. Natural oak herringbone parquet.

2. Custom made furniture (part of the kitchen and the kitchen table), and wall coverings, with integrated doors, bathroom cabinets.
