The Quintal 1013 project emerged from the client's request to expand the barbecue area in the backyard of a typical 1970s/80s house: small stone tile flooring, a garden bench, a typical exposed brick barbecue, and a space surrounded by pots and plants. A space rich in history and affection was to be expanded while maintaining its original characteristics but also allowing for new gatherings and interactions.

A jacuzzi, a pool table, a boundary gate, conversation and lounging spaces, along with an abundance of plants, were crucial items requested by the client for this renovation. The intervention area was marked with Portuguese stone flooring, and the addition of a light metal canopy created a respectful dialogue with the original small stone tiles, which we kept intact.

Color, texture, life, contrast, and lightness embody the affirmation of Brazilian identity present in homes. The project stems from this principle and solidifies with the creation of furniture that stretches across the entire backyard: a bench, a table, a planter. A plurality of functions in a single piece of furniture, punctuated by the presence of tiles—another element deeply rooted in the history of Brazilian architecture. These elements, together with the textures on the walls and ceiling, reinforce the idea of the space as a creator of new stories.
