The accumulated wisdom of over a decade forms the rich foundation for charting the course of the next ten years. The design philosophy of this space is deeply rooted in the "fusion of memory and novelty," allowing us to extend the warmth of the past while composing a brand-new overture for life through the language of light and shadow.
Every point of light within the space is charged with the mission of awakening the environment’s elements. The living room's cantilever wall lamp, with its versatile posture, interprets the freedom and ease of living. The pendant light above the dining table is intentionally kept in its raw, unfinished material state, corresponding with the rugged simplicity of the cement wall. Complemented by the Vitsoe shelving system, this setting encourages residents to coexist with the utmost sincerity, honoring the authenticity of each material.
To enrich the spatial layering, the beams above the mezzanine were deliberately chiseled to expose the original coarse texture of the material. By utilizing the diffused light of the LED sky light, a philosophical contrast is created between the refined and the rough. This is more than a play on texture; it symbolizes the duality of life, inspiring us to face the future with a comprehensive perspective.
In the newly defined division of the mezzanine, a circular wall lamp casts a warm, sun-like halo, embracing the people and objects transitioning between the private and public areas. Furthermore, the perforated metal sheet above the main entrance acts as an interface, its subtle, semi-transparent boundary adding an element of intrigue and ingenious interaction to daily life.
The space's most authentic surface emanates from the natural interplay of light and the world. Each day, at certain moments, the kitchen’s cement wall seems to nurture a hope for life as the light shifts; the mezzanine window frames a constantly evolving work of art. Ultimately, we have successfully found the authenticity and balance of habitation right at the site of memory.
